Most ultrasound transducers are designed to be durable for day-to-day use.
But over time, transducers inevitably develop problems due frequent use. Repairing a transducer can often be the most cost effective way to restore it to proper operation standards and OEM specifications. However, it is important to note that while most transducers are repairable, some are not.
If A Transducer Is Repairable
If a transducer is repairable, it still takes time for a quality repair job to get it back to standard operating conditions. So if you can wait for the repair to take place, that’s great. But if you can’t, Gale Medical provides a couple of options.
If You Are Unable To Wait For The Repair: Exchange Vs. Loaner Transducer
You may not be able to wait for the repair job. Especially if you manage a smaller office, and have limited ultrasound equipment. In those situations, we can often provide you an exchange transducer on a more timely basis, with the added benefit that exchange pricing is less expensive than out-right pricing.
Loaner transducers (if available as sometimes they are not) are a great option as well. But keep in mind that when you add the cost, shipping, and time it takes to complete the paperwork for a transducer on loan, it usually still makes transducer exchanges the quickest, most cost effective choice.
Important note: When looking for a transducer, make sure you know the exact make and model of both the transducer AND the ultrasound system. Why? Because OEMS often use the same model # on transducers with several models of their ultrasound systems, but they are NOT compatible with every system.
